Introduction In Gainesville’s Community Redevelopment Areas, we are building the vision of vibrant urban neighborhoods. From creating new urban parks to adding brick sidewalks and pedestrian lighting, from redeveloping outdated commercial strip centers to preserving historic homes, from providing affordable residences to luxury urban condominiums, we are building a bright future for Gainesville’s urban core – its heart, its center. This visual master plan sets the vision for the next ten years in Gainesville’s Community Redevelopment Areas: Downtown, College Park/University Heights, Fifth Avenue/Pleasant Street and Eastside. Included are landmarks to set your bearings, existing parks and recreational opportunities, upcoming public projects such as roadway improvements, and potential redevelopment sites. Public investment will be used to spur private investment for the combined betterment of the community. The next ten years are an exciting period for Gainesville’s Community Redevelopment Areas. Our strengths as a diverse and dynamic university city will only expand as we grow in the breadth of our economic opportunities and the beauty of our built environment.
